How to Manage Lot Numbers

This guide explains how to add, edit, and delete lot numbers on a part. Lot numbers represent individual production batches and are required before measurements can be recorded.

Prerequisites

  • You must be logged in as a superuser (admin) to manage lot numbers
  • The part number must already exist in the system

What Is a Lot Number?

A lot number identifies a specific production run or batch of a part. Each lot can have:

Material Number Material or heat number associated with this lot No

Adding a Lot Number

  1. Go to Part Numbers and click on the part you want to add a lot to
  2. On the part detail page, find the Lot Numbers section
  3. Click Add Lot Number
  4. Fill in the Lot Number field (required) and any optional fields
  5. Click Add Lot

The new lot will appear in the lot numbers table immediately.

Editing a Lot Number

  1. Navigate to the part's detail page
  2. In the Lot Numbers table, find the lot you want to edit
  3. Click the Edit (pencil) icon on that lot's row
  4. Update the fields as needed
  5. Click Save

Deleting a Lot Number

⚠️ Warning: Deleting a lot number will also delete all measurement records associated with it. This action cannot be undone.

  1. Navigate to the part's detail page
  2. In the Lot Numbers table, find the lot you want to delete
  3. Click the Delete (trash) icon on that lot's row
  4. Confirm the deletion

Viewing Measurements by Lot

On the part detail page, you can filter the measurements table by lot number using the Filter by Lot dropdown. This lets you review all measurements recorded for a specific production batch.

Troubleshooting

"Unauthorized: Admin access required" error

You are logged in as a regular user. Only superusers can add or modify lot numbers. Contact your administrator.

Lot number not appearing in Data Input

After adding a lot number, it should immediately be available in the Data Input page. Try refreshing the page. Ensure you have selected the correct part number first, as lots are filtered by part.
